Physiotherapy and Multidisciplinary Health Care in the NDIS

Multidisciplinary healthcare refers to the approach of bringing together healthcare professionals from different disciplines or areas of expertise to provide comprehensive and coordinated care for the Participants we work with. This approach recognises that many disabilities and health issues are complex and require a range of skills, knowledge, and perspectives to manage effectively.

Pictured below is our Physiotherapist Oscar completing a joint session with Occupational Therapist John with their Participant Hadi. Multidisciplinary practice between Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy has numerous benefits when working with people with disabilities in the NDIS. These two professions have unique and complementary skills that can be combined to provide holistic and effective care for Participants.

Our Physiotherapists specialise in optimising physical function, including mobility, strength, and balance in a wide variety of settings to actively improve a Participants functional capacity. This includes using exercise to address physical limitations and also improve psychosocial health.

When these two professions work together, they can develop integrated interventions that address both the physical and functional aspects of a Participant life. For example, an OT may work with a Participant to improve their ability to perform self-care tasks such as dressing, while a Physio may work with the same Participant to improve their balance and walking ability. By combining these approaches, Participants can achieve more significant gains in their overall function and ultimately their ability to achieve their NDIS goals.

Four Point Therapy currently has the immediate capacity to accept Physiotherapy referrals across broader Melbourne. Get in touch with us if you would like more information!
